A party for the whole city
Vienna’s City Hall Square will be transformed into the world’s most beautiful open-air screening zone for the entire week of the Eurovision Song Contest, just as it was in 2015. Besides that, numerous side events and parties guarantee celebration events on every corner. Vienna demonstrates once again to be a cosmopolitan and tolerant host city – the world´s capital of music, where everyone is welcome!
Third time in Vienna
Back in 1966, Udo Jürgens secured Austria’s first ever Eurovision victory thanks to his global hit single “Merci, Chéri”. The following year, the contest was held at the Vienna Hofburg. It then took a full 48 years until Conchita Wurst’s spectacular win with “Rise like a Phoenix” in Copenhagen in 2014. In 2015, all of Austria was caught by ESC fever – especially the host city, Vienna. The same-sex pedestrian traffic light couples, that were introduced back then, have not only become an iconic fixture here, but have spread internationally as well. Rainbow crosswalks have also become a familiar part of the cityscape. The 2015 edition of the mega event marked the beginning of a new era for Eurovision, establishing many of the standards that make the Song Contest spectacular and popular today. In 2025, countertenor JJ – who was trained at the Vienna State Opera – was able to win over (particularly) the expert jury with his song “Wasted Love”.
